Dr Mitchell Smith – Chief Medical Officer, Follicular Lymphoma Foundation
Dr Mitchell Smith has an extensive educational background, having earned his Medical Degree and PhD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. He has also completed several residencies and fellowships, including a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in NY. Dr Smith’s career has also spanned many years and institutions, including serving as Director of the Lymphoma Program at Fox Chase Cancer Centre and Director of the Lymphoid Malignancy Program at the Cleveland Clinic. Join him as he shares his expert insights throughout our engaging webinar series.
Dr. Peter Martin– clinical lymphoma expert
Dr. Peter Martin is a Professor of Medicine and Co-Chair of the Hematology Disease Management Group at NYU Langone, Perlmutter Cancer Center in New York City.
He is active in the Lymphoma Committee at the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Mantle Cell Lymphoma Consortium for the Lymphoma Research Foundation and of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lymphoma Research Foundation, and the National Cancer Institute Lymphoma Steering Committee.
Chris Carrigan- Patient advocate from UseMyData
Chris Carrigan has been affected by cancer through his family and in his professional life. Chris’ professional background includes many senior leadership positions in the cancer data field including DATA-CAN, the National Cancer Intelligence Network (part of the UK Health Security Agency), the Cancer Registration in England & chair of IGARD who review research applications for sensitive patient data.
Seeing his family experience of cancer diagnosis and treatment through his professional lens, Chris believes his wife’s fast diagnosis and treatment for Breast cancer was made possible using data for research and desperately wishes his brother had a better experience. Following a very late stage diagnosis for lymphoma and delays in treatment he sadly died in 2008. This has given Chris a passion to change things for the better and now retired, Chris volunteers with the independent UK charity use MY data, a movement of patients, relatives and carers.
