There are loads of ways that you can just get on and organise an event or a sponsored challenge. There is a whole array of ways to do this whether through coffee mornings, quiz nights, sponsored walks, or school/work ‘dress-down’ days. Most importantly it is to do those things that you’ll enjoy and that are fun!
Alongside these, there are also many ways to seek sponsorship for challenges whether small or large. Whether you choose a local event or something further away, you can ask friends, family, and work colleagues to donate and support your chosen cause.
It is important to remember to tag the charity you’re raising money for in all your social posts and make the posts public, so that people who do not know you but support the same cause, can sponsor you too.
Promoting your charity event in the past could be really challenging. Reaching a wide audience was often difficult and keeping supporters up to date and excited about your event was tough. However, this has changed with growth of social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp. These have transformed the way people fundraise online. Whether through your professional or personal networks we can now reach large groups of people who already have an interest in why you are fundraising for your event, and who will want to support you along the way.
Setting up an online fundraising page is quick and easy, and it allows your friends, family, and colleagues to sponsor you wherever they are. By using platforms, such as JustGiving, have made it even easier for you to collect donations from your supporters, once you have told them about your event. There are lots of online fundraising platforms that make organising your sponsorship easy. Switching from paper forms to online sponsorship usually raises more money, and, in many cases, the online providers also manage the collection of Gift Aid. Make sure you add your story and pictures to your page to encourage engagement and share the magic of the event.

Charity challenges ideas are a great way to help raise money for your cause from personal challenges, or giving up something you love, to more extreme adventures. Here are few ideas to help stimulate your thoughts:
Walking is also a great for fundraising without taking part in an organised event. You can set the route yourself and record it using one of the many apps available for your mobile phone. Walking events are becoming more and more popular, with many including an overnight element, so you might complete the distance over two days.
Whether you are just starting out or an experienced runner aiming for 5k or even an ultra-marathon, running events are a great opportunity to ask for sponsorship. There are many companies and event organisers hosting races throughout the year. Entry fees vary but many do not cost a huge amount and sponsored participation is a great way to raise money for your favourite cause.
Cycle races are taking place nationwide all year round, catering for all entry levels, from novice to seasoned cyclist. You don’t have to have the latest bike or equipment to take part, and routes are typically in very scenic places – so you can enjoy the view whilst raising money.
Whether in your local pool or taking part in the growing trend of outdoor ‘wild’ swimming, a sponsored swimming event is a great way of raising money for your charity or cause. You can organise your own activity or join a pre-existing event in your local area or further afield.
There’s never been a better time to plan a golf day, since the start of the pandemic, the golf industry has boomed, with male and female golfers growing in significantly in numbers. Often charging for team or individual entry, these would typically these would offer prizes for the winning team and individual, longest drive and closest to the pin, typically a raffle and auction, business sponsorship opportunities. Organising golf days can take time, sometimes 9 months’ ahead with the first step often securing a venue.

We are thrilled to announce that our Unlock the Cure Gala Dinner saw us raise an astounding £800,000 to further our mission of finding a cure for follicular lymphoma.
Anne and Stewart recently completed an incredible 432-mile cycling journey in Scotland, raising over £2000 for the FLF.
